Alright, so I finished building this thing. Now what?
What is the purpose of this thing?
This thing exists to both test and document my... fourth... I think... attempt to master the guitar. As the story goes, it takes ten thousand hours to master something. I've decided on the guitar.
My first attempt failed because I bought a shit guitar. Incidentally, so did the second. That's two guitars, now. The second guitar was quite expensive - around two thousand dollars. Slightly less.
The third attempt didn't fail quite as hard, but it still failed due to having yet another shit guitar. That's three shit guitars. I do have a good guitar, but it's electric, and the little amp from the third attempt started rusting quite a while ago. The cable requires quite a bit of wiggling to make it work, and even then, dare I fart too hard, it'll dislocate, or worse, start making this weird buzzing noise that sounds like a group of Japanese wasps mid coitus. Unpleasant.
Heavily.
This time I'll be going for a classical guitar which means metal strings. All of them. "Acoustic", apparently means "giant ukulele", Also, I'll be taking a "low action" guitar because I'm a pussy.
Let's outline what would be considered absolute success:
Being able to play several Victor Tsoi songs. Specifically, properly play Zvezda Po Imeni Solntse, Pachka Sigaret, and Peremen. Without prior preparation. Just grab a guitar and perfectly perform those.
Same with Country Roads.
Throw some Johnny Cash into the mix.
In terms of style, being able to improvise some blues. I'm turning old. Old people gotta play blues. I don't actually like blues much.
Being able to improvise rock&roll. This one I do like. Old school rock - Elvis Presley style.
Being able to improvise in general.
Now for some math.
Every day consists of twenty four hours.
I sleep roughly seven hours every day (on a good day).
I work for ten hours.
Getting home takes about an hour.
I get home at about 19:00 and go to sleep at 22:00. This leaves me with three hours, assuming I'm taking them all.
Fridays and Saturdays, however, are mostly free game, so those would be my main learning days while Sunday to Thursday would just be mild training.
That's all fine and dandy assuming everything is perfect, but... it's not.
Epilepsy.
The bane of my existence. Thanks to epileptic auras I can't do three hours of nonstop training. If I could, I would, but alas, I'm forced to accommodate for my own brain fighting against me.
What else can I say? The journey begins on Friday. Let's see how that works out.
